Hi All, I do have a W1 alarm WIFI/PSTN , we just noticed that the VOIP phone (magic jack) does not ring when somebody call. The phone has an integrated answering machine.
Interestingly, I can made calls with no issues.
Now, I did disconnect the alarm, and phone works back perfectly, any idea on how to solve this issue and if there is any way of solving it? It seems kind of incompatibility with incoming calls via VOIP and the W1? any ideas?
Thanks a lot.

Maybe it is the way you have your wiring.
On a typical monitored alarm system the phone line comes in off the street and into the monitored alarm system and then out into the house phone wiring so it is a series wiring circuit.
With VOIP every telephony/PTSN device (eg alarm, eftpos, telephone, fax) in the house must be plugged into the VOIP box so when a call comes in or goes out the VOIP box handles the call.
Do you have W1 plugged into your VOIP box? Please explain the wires and how the wiring comes in and out to the phone and W1 and the VOIP unit.

Don't think the alarm system pstn support digital home line. Now you mention it I think the signal is different and most PTSN devices can't talk on the digital specturm.

Cofreth , Same here , have a satellite Voip landline , and W1 allows incoming calls for 3 rings and then cuts the line! Like you I can dial out on the phone , but people cannot get hold of me , the host box plays a little tune too , when the phone rings . On the back of the router there is provision for phone ! and another ocker for phone 2 , so I will play around there . Btw my old alarm DID work ok with the Voip and the phone , no problems
